Hi~!
I arrived in Beijing on the 8th of September.
Registration for the uni was on the 9th.
9th Sep ( Monday)
Went to the Uni by taxi.
Each student was given a paper bag consisting of a map of beijing, a campus living guide, an orientation schedule with campus map, a handbook for international students & an academic calendar with campus map (coloured).
We were then asked to pay insurance fee and then the tuition fee.
After that, I went to a room where they took my picture for my student ID.
Went home afterwards.
10th Sep (tuesday)
this is second day of registration so I need not go.
11th Sep (Wednesday)
I went and sat for an english test.
On the admission notice, it is stated that those who are taking the course in english are required to take an english test. I didn't know what they were going to ask. I know I could do it but as a Malaysian, I was brought up to actually always study before an exam or a test, it was stressful to not know the format. Back in Malaysia, they always inform you of the format before you actually take any test. So used to that.
So, about the English Test for Beihang, it consisted of a listening section, a grammar section, a reading section and an essay section. That's about it for format. Listening was in MCQ. Grammar was in MCQ and also fill in the blanks. reading was in MCQ and fill in the blanks. And the essay was just more than 120 words, the usual.
12th Sep ( Thursday)
8.30 Campus tour.
I had to tough time looking for the meeting place since I stay off campus. The meeting place is in front of the dorm. We toured the campus for like an hour. The campus was just so big my feet ache. Did you know that in Malaysia, we don't walk a lot? In malaysia, we only walk in shopping malls. That's all. Unhealthy? yes. That is so Malaysian. :)
9.30 Orientation.
This isn't like any orientation I've ever been. It was just speeches about rules, the campus. That's about it. Lasted for an hour.
10.30 Introduction meeting of training school
Met the flight vehicle design lecturer. He gave a brief intro on the course and what you can expect from the course.
Went home as soon as the meeting ended.
13th Sep (Friday)
9.00 Opening ceremony
Let me recall.....
hmm.....
I think they showed us a video about the uni. And more speech.
12.00 Physical Examination
We went to a hospital by bus.
The exam was completely different from what I did back in Malaysia. I meant the way they conducted the exam. Paid RMB357 for the exam.
So, that was how I spent my first week in Uni.
Lessons officially started the following week.
Want to hear about it?
I guess not.
The next post will not be about my uni anymore.
It will be about food & other things.
Look forward to read my next post!
